“The choice of films was great – well done!”

Wadhurst Community Cinema (WCC) launched in September 2013 since when over 1,200 people have enjoyed monthly social evenings with mainstream films September – May in the Commemoration Hall on Wadhurst High Street.  Season 8 is now underway until May 2022, with Season 9 scheduled to begin in September 2022. The film programme starts at 7.45 pm, doors open from 7.15 pm, with wine & nibbles at the bar.

We welcome help from our members

Wadhurst Community Cinema is run on a shoe-string by a small team of volunteers. We do appreciate members helping with the running of our film nights by volunteering (email: secwcc1@gmail.com) for any of the following:

Serving on Film Selection Panel  :   Front of house (e.g. usher, entry)  :  Selling of refreshments  :  Giving older members a lift  :  Help on the technical side  :  Marketing  :  Serving on the committee : film projection (with training!).

“The film quality is awesome.”

We are a non-profit making organisation, run by volunteers, but if you think that means scratchy films and muffled sound, think again! We show high-quality Blu-ray films on state-of-the-art equipment purchased with the support of our Parish Council and paid for by our membership fees and local advertising. Our upgraded sound system is thanks to a Grant from the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema Equipment Fund.

All net proceeds are ploughed back into the upkeep of our venue, the Commemoration Hall, which is a Charitable Trust for the benefit of the people of Wadhurst. We are proud to say that, thanks to our members and advertisers, Seasons 1 – 6 produced £24,000+ for hall coffers.

“Good variety in choice of film and fantastic to be on the doorstep”

Membership costs £27 per season or pro rata mid-season (min. 9 films at just £3 each). Members can buy £4 guest tickets in advance for individual film nights.  Tickets can be bought on the door at £5 each.

WCC is run by a committee of members. Film nights are fun, highly social and well-refreshed (there’s a bar serving drinks and snacks), with members often expressing candid views on the choices made by the Film Selection Panel!

“I saw a film for the first time in 20 years!”
