“The choice of films was great – well done!”

Wadhurst Community Cinema (WCC) launched in September 2013 and in our first six seasons over 1,000 people have enjoyed social evenings with popular mainstream films once a month between September and, now, May (9 film nights instead of 8) in the Commemoration Hall on Wadhurst High Street.  Following on from our successful six seasons, Season 7 runs from 25th September 2019 to 14th May 2020. The film programme starts at 7.45 pm, doors open from 7.15 pm, with wine & nibbles at the bar.

“The film quality is awesome.”

We are a non-profit making organisation, run by volunteers, but if you think that means scratchy films and muffled sound, think again! We show high-quality Blu-ray films on state-of-the-art equipment purchased with the support of our Parish Council and paid for by our membership fees and local advertising. Our upgraded sound system is thanks to a Grant from the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema Equipment Fund.

All net proceeds are ploughed back into the upkeep of our venue, the Commemoration Hall, which is a Charitable Trust for the benefit of the people of Wadhurst. We are proud to say that, thanks to our members and advertisers, Seasons 1 – 6 produced £24,000+ for hall coffers.

“Good variety in choice of film and fantastic to be on the doorstep”

Membership costs £27 per season (min. 9 films at just £3 each). Members can buy £4 guest tickets in advance for individual film nights.  Tickets can be bought on the door at £5 each.

WCC is run by a committee of members, elected annually. Film nights are fun, highly social and well-refreshed, with members often expressing candid views on the choices made by the Film Selection Panel!

“I saw a film for the first time in 20 years!”
